Service Rules

  1. To provide for system of engagement of Law Officers in the office of Advocate General in a transparent, fair and objective manner and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto Legislature of State of Punjab enacted an Act called the Punjab Law Officers (Engagement) Act, 2017.
  2. In exercise of the powers conferred under Article 165 of the Constitution of India, the Government of Punjab pleased to make Rules for Regulating the Remuneration & Duties of the Advocate General for the State vide No. 8746-JJ-53/38717 dated 6th July, 1953. as amended vide notification dated 30.03.1965 and 18.8.1986.
  3. The service conditions of Class-III employees of the office of Advocate General Punjab are governed by the Advocate General Punjab Office Class-III Service Rules, 1955 and other rules and instructions issued by the Punjab Govt. from time to time are applicable in the office of Advocate General, Punjab.
  4. The service conditions of the remaining employees of the Advocate General’s Office are governed by the Punjab Civil Services Rules, and instructions/manuals issued by the State Government from time to time.
