- To provide for system of engagement of Law Officers in the office of Advocate General in a transparent, fair and objective manner and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto Legislature of State of Punjab enacted an Act called the Punjab Law Officers (Engagement) Act, 2017.
- In exercise of the powers conferred under Article 165 of the Constitution of India, the Government of Punjab pleased to make Rules for Regulating the Remuneration & Duties of the Advocate General for the State vide No. 8746-JJ-53/38717 dated 6th July, 1953. as amended vide notification dated 30.03.1965 and 18.8.1986.
- The service conditions of Class-III employees of the office of Advocate General Punjab are governed by the Advocate General Punjab Office Class-III Service Rules, 1955 and other rules and instructions issued by the Punjab Govt. from time to time are applicable in the office of Advocate General, Punjab.
- The service conditions of the remaining employees of the Advocate General’s Office are governed by the Punjab Civil Services Rules, and instructions/manuals issued by the State Government from time to time.
